Announcement of the Schedule for the 41st Shirakawa-go Winter Light-Up Event (2027) (Released on July 1, 2026)
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Shirakawa-go's iconic winter event, the Shirakawa-go Winter Light-Up, will celebrate its 41st edition in 2027. ✨
Come and experience the magical atmosphere of the illuminated traditional gassho-style village and create unforgettable winter memories. 🎵🎵🎵
At this time, we are pleased to announce only the event dates. Reservations for all related services will begin in September 2026.
Details regarding the event, reservation procedures, and ticket sales are currently being finalized. Further information will be published on the Shirakawa-go Tourist Association website in early September 2026. We kindly ask for your patience until then.
【Important Information】
・The Winter Light-Up Event is by advance reservation only.
・Visitors without a reservation will not be admitted, even if they arrive on the event day.
・Photography using drones is strictly prohibited.
【Daytime Sightseeing Bus Information on Light-Up Event Days (January 11, 17, 24 & 31)】
・Sightseeing buses visiting during the daytime must enter the village by 2:00 p.m. and depart no later than 4:00 p.m..
・After 2:00 p.m., only buses with confirmed reservations for the Winter Light-Up Event will be permitted to enter the village. All other buses will be required to leave.
・Reservations for buses attending the Winter Light-Up Event will be accepted directly by participating businesses, on the condition that all passengers use a paid service at an eligible facility within Shirakawa Village on the day of the event.
・Therefore, reservations for Winter Light-Up bus parking cannot be made through the Shirakawa-go Bus Parking Reservation Website.
・Please also note that reservations are not accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Since participating businesses already maintain year-round partnerships with travel agencies, it is currently extremely difficult to secure new reservations for buses attending only the Winter Light-Up Event.
・Full details will be published in early September 2026 on the Shirakawa-go Tourist Association website under "Overview of the Shirakawa-go Winter Light-Up Event." Please check the website again at that time for the latest information.
